Hoang Lien National Park with its 28,509 hectare of natural area covering two districts of Sapa- Lao Cai province and Tan Uyen Lai Chau province. This is not only one of the most important special- use but most bio-diversified forest of Viet Nam.
The park is located in subtropical and temperate alpine climate area, which brings cool weather and spectacular natural scenery. Especially, Fansipan peak with 3,143m dubbed “Roof of Indochina”. Along with the unique forest habitats, which represents most of th forest types in Viet Nam, tourist are also attracted by the diversity by the number of animals and plants.
Hoang Lian National Park owns a plenty of forest fauna that is species are Western Back Crested Gibbon, Hornbill, Java Mouse- Deer, Indichinese silvered langur… However, most of them are in rare, endangered of threatened status, some are in threat of extinction.
Main area of Hoang Lien National Park is Primeval forest closed vegetation, evergreen and banboo forest owning the richness of plan species. Only 2,847 species of vascular plants have been recorded with the typical tree so far such as Alnus nepalensis, Phododendron, Pemou oil, Calocedrus macrolepis, Fokiena hodginsii… In which 129 species and groups of species belong to 54 endangered and rare families such as Abies delavayi spp, Fansipanensis, Tsuga dumosa… and hundreds of herbal plants have tremendous value is terms of Hoang Lien crow’s feet. Beside Hoang Lien National Park is also home of variuos kinds of flowers with sparkling beauty as Orchids, Rhododendron, Begonia…
