He Kou (China)

Although He Kou is just a small border town of China but it's a good place for you to visit. When you pass over the bridge from Vietnam to China you'll see the difference between the two countries: The time; the weather; the people...Go sightseeing around the town by electric car, take photos, visit Vietnam market...When you go to China one thing that you should not forget is "To try Chinese food". Ha Giang

Ha Giang is in the North-East side of Sapa - Lao Cai, 300 km away from Hanoi, located at the highest latitude in Vietnam. It is surrounded by Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai and Yen Bai. It shares a border with China in the north. Many ethnic minorities, including the Dao, H'mong, Tay, and Nung, live in Ha Giang province.

The climate is divided in two distinct seasons (rainy and dry), although it tends to vary depending on altitude. Ha Giang is the ideal location to organize activities such as hiking and camping. Famous sites include Quang Ngan Waterfall and Than Thuy - Thien Bao National Frontier Pass.

This destination has lots of remote villages of variety of minority poeples which are unforgetable to visit on the itinerary of North-East Vietnam.

Dong Van Highland

Is situated 1,025 m above sea level and is inhabited by the Tay and H'Mong ethnic groups. The temperature is approximately 1oC in winter and reaches 24oC on the hottest days. The plateau provides famous products such as Hau plums, peaches, and persimmons without seeds. Dong Van apples are as big as pears. In Dong Van, numerous valuable plants used for their medicinal value are found, including ginseng, anise, and cinnamon.

Dong Van has a lot to offer: mountains, forests, hidden grottoes and caves, multicolored orchid forests, plum and peach trees, persimmon orchards, and more.

Visiting Dong Van, one can see Pho Bang, also called Pho Bang Street, which was built a long time ago and features multi-storey houses made of clay bricks and tile roofs. Visiting Dong Van on Sundays, one can shop in a very original mountain market where all kinds of goods and multicolored clothes can be purchased.

Khau Vai love market

This happens once a year often falls in May, where the colorful people gather for their old loves and new ones, and is the place where the tribes sell their local products like food, vegetable, local textiles...

DIEN BIEN PHU ( 300 km from Sa Pa)

Đien Bien Phu a is mountainous province in the Northwest of Viet Nam, it's about 474 km from Ha Noi. To Dien Bien you will have chance to know well about people, culture and history.
The Battle of Dien Bien Phu was the climactic confrontation of French Corps and Viet Minh communist revolutionaries. The battle occurred between March and May 1954 and culminated in a comprehensive French defeat.
Dien Bien Phu now still keep few historic scars to bear witness to its horrendous past, though it is still one of the remote areas you could visit. The hill-tribes living around the area of Dien Bien Phu make up 70% of the regions population, and the ethnic minority groups include the Black Thai, Nung, Meo, Loa and others.

Today, to Dien Bien Phu, visitors will see on the top of the northwest mountain of hill A1 have a monument was built by style "Three mountains" in the middle higher than two sides.

Yen Bai

Yen Bai Province is located in the North West of Viet Nam, it's about 200 km far from the capital city (Hanoi), the northern part of the country. It is bordered by on the north by Ha Giang, the south by Son La, on the northeast by Tuyen Quang, on the southeast by Phu Tho and the northwest by Lao Cai. There are many natural beauty sights in Yen Bai such as: Mu Cang Chai district, Giang stream, Luc Yen gemstone market, Thac Ba Lake...

Landscapes of Bao Yen district

Bao Yen is a land rich of traditions of fighting to build and protect the country. That tradition is closely attached to the place names of Nghi Lang ancient citadel, Bao Ha temple and Pho Rang station. These places have become cultural historical monuments and tourist attraction.

Nghi Lang ancient citadel

Nghi Lang ancient citadel was built around early 16th century and a political and economic centre of the entire Chay river region at that time. Nghi Lang ancient citadel connects closely to the glorious struggle of the Bau lords (Vu Van Uyen, Vu Van Mat and descendants) against Mac dynasty to protect the country. At present, many valuable and historical objects are discovered in the area of Nghi Lang ancient citadel.

Pho Rang station

Lao Cai is famous of ecological and sightseeing tours or traditional ethnicities or historical discovery tours but Pho Rang station is always a starting point of all. Stopping in Pho Rang, do not forget to visit Pho Rang station located on a hill where a joining point of ngoi Rang and Chay River is. Monument of Rang city station has gone into history with a resounding victory of Phu Thong battalion (Battalion 11), breaking an important channel of the French colonialists' defense line of Nghia lo - Bao Ha - Pho Rang - Nghia Do - Yen Binh that menaces the Viet Bac military base. Pho Rang victory is a good lesson and education for the patriotism of succeeding generations.

Bao Ha temple

Bao Ha temple - a national - level cultural vestige is a famous religious cultural site nation - wide. It was built at the foot of Cam hill, by the Hong River in a part of Bao Yen commune. The temple area has very beautiful natural scenery.

Bao Ha temple worships the god of defense Hoang Bay, a famous general under Ly dynasty, who had made great contribution in expelling enemies, protecting the country, reclaiming land and defending the country's border areas. He also died in his land. He had been ever granted his 4 words "Tran An Hien Liet" and conferred a title of the God of defense by the Nguyen King. From the South to the North, whoever come to Lao Cai can not forget to visit Hoang Bay temple, burn incense sticks to commemorate a famous general having great contributions to the Dai Viet country.

 MAI CHAU (624 km from Sa Pa)
Approximately 150km from Hanoi, about three hours by bus, in recent years, Mai Chau valley and his Thai ethnic culture and architecture has become a popular tourist destination. Vietnam's Mai Chau is a large valley, to Mai Chau tourist will have chance to see a verdant landscape, Thai-style thatched huts, meandering streams in the rice field.
Mai Chau is located in Hoa Binh, a mountainous province in the northwest of Hanoi. The way to village is a longish journey, but it's compensated you will have chance to join by panoramic views over the hills and valleys. The White Thai peoples have occupied Mai Chau valley for several hundred years. Most of the Mai Chau village's residents are from the White Tai ethnic group and live in the stilt houses. Beneath the stilt houses, families keep their livestock and their looms. Traditionally, their income was generated by rice production and weaving scarves.
A typical tour spends one night in Mai Chau with music from traditional gongs accompanied by Thai dances, eating steamed 'sticky' rice and drinking local rice 'wine' through bamboo 'straws' from a communal jar. For a longer trip, you should hiking through the rice paddies and nearby villages and a visit to the Song Da by jeep. Accommodation will be in a stilt house homestay, after a couple of days you'll have an experiencing the genuine hill tribe lifestyle!

SON LA (465 km from Sa Pa)
Son La is the fifth largest province in the country, is located in the northwestern region of Vietnam. Eighty percent of the province's natural area is covered with mountains. The province is populated by various ethnic groups, including the Ma, H'mong, Dao, Muong, Kinh, Khmer, Tay, Thai, and so on. Son La has a temperate climate throughout the year.
On the way to Son La, the customers will have the chance to swim in Hot Springs, visits ethnic minority hamlets, Son La Prison and Son La Museum: The prison was built by French colonialism in 1908. In 1930-1945, it was expanded and became the place where detained revolutionary soldiers were kept. It was considered a steel prison and a hell on earth to stamp out strong struggle of prisoners. However, in the eyes of Vietnamese prisoners and revolutionary soldiers, the prison was regarded as a school providing the Vietnamese Revolution with excellent communists like Truong Chinh, Le Duan, Nguyen Luong Bang, Van Tien Dung, Nguyen Co Thach, Xuan Thuy, Tran Huy Lieu, etc.
By watching historic evidences in the relic area of Son La prison and museum, you will feel the savageness of the French Colonialism and admire the sufferance and bravery of political prisoners. Reaching the relic area, you will also be told touching stories about in-prison activities of Vietnamese prisoners, for example, mutual help and solidarity, revolutionary propagation, struggles for prisoners' rights, etc. Visiting this relic area, you will gain useful knowledge about cultures of 12 ethic minority groups exhibited at the Son La Museum.

LAI CHAU (80 km from Sa Pa)
Lai Chau is situated on high mountainous region in the Northern of Viet Nam, northern of Da River. Its neighbors are China, Laos, Lao Cai, Dien Bien and Son La.
The area of Lai Chau province is 9,562.9 Population: 319,900 people. Capital: Lai Chau. Districts: Phong Tho, Tam Duong, Than Uyen, Tan Uyen, Muong Te, Sin Ho. Ethnic groups: Thai, H'Mong, Viet(Kinh), Giay, Dao...
A range of mountain following Northern West - Southern East makes up the terrain The Pu Sa Leng point is 3,096m above sea level. There are sloping mountains, hill, valley, plateau, spring alternately. River, spring and waterfalls with high flow are potential of hydroelectricity in Lai Chau.
Climate: Belong to tropical monsoon zone; the climate of Lai Chau is divided into two seasons: rainny season and dry season. The annual average temperature is 21oC - 23oC.
Tourists are interesting in custom of ethnic groups in Sin Ho Village, Tam Duong, Tien Son Cave or Muong Lai Spring.
The transportation is mainly by road. National Highway No.12 connects Dien Bien Phu City to Ma Lu Thang Border Gate crossing Lai Chau, and National Highway No.4D links Lai Chau with Sapa Town
