Lao Cai Participates in the 10th China–South Asia Expo and the 30th Kunming Import and Export Fair

On June 11, a delegation from Lao Cai Province attended the opening ceremony of the 10th China–South Asia Expo and the 30th Kunming Import and Export Fair at the Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China

The event is considered one of the largest international trade promotion activities in the region, bringing together thousands of businesses and investors from countries around the world.

According to the Organizing Committee, the fairs are being held from June 11 to June 16, featuring 15 exhibition zones covering an area of 160,000 square meters, more than 8,500 standard booths, and the participation of over 2,000 enterprises from more than 60 countries and territories. In the Southeast Asian Countries Pavilion, 221 enterprises are showcasing their products across 380 booths. The Vietnam Pavilion features 57 enterprises with a total of 124 booths.

Overview of the Fair’s Opening Ceremony..

The Vietnamese delegation attending the opening ceremony was led by Mr. Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade, and included representatives from the Consulate General of Vietnam in China and the Vietnam Trade Office in China. The Lao Cai provincial delegation comprised leaders from the Department of Industry and Trade, the Lao Cai Economic Zone Authority, and the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center of Lao Cai Province.

At this year’s event, Lao Cai Province organized four exhibition booths under the theme “Lao Cai – Connectivity and Development”, coordinated by the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center of Lao Cai Province. The booths showcased a wide range of local specialty products, processed agricultural products, and key export commodities of the province. On the opening day, the Lao Cai exhibition area attracted a large number of visitors, businesses, and international partners seeking market information, business connections, and cooperation opportunities.

Mr. Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade, visited and viewed the products displayed at Lao Cai Province’s exhibition booths.

Participation in the fair not only helps promote the image, potential, and competitive advantages of Lao Cai Province, but also provides valuable opportunities for local enterprises to expand their markets, establish new business partnerships, and enhance import-export activities through the province’s border-gate system.

In particular, as part of the fair’s program, on June 12, the Honghe Prefecture Bureau of Commerce, in collaboration with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam) and the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center of Lao Cai Province, will organize a Vietnam Coffee Industry Business Matching Conference. The event is expected to attract more than 150 delegates, including 35 Vietnamese coffee enterprises and over 80 Chinese coffee producers and traders. This practical activity aims to strengthen supply-demand connections, expand market opportunities, and promote trade cooperation between businesses of the two countries in the coffee sector.

Lao Cai’s participation in large-scale international trade fairs continues to demonstrate the province’s commitment to economic integration, trade promotion, and strengthening its role as a key gateway for trade and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Yunnan Province, as well as other localities in China.
