Free natural fishing spots for tourists in Sapa
Sapa is very famous for cool climate and pristine natural landscapes. Not only that, Sa Pa has small streams flowing along the Hoang Lien Son range, creating dams and reservoirs with many unique aquatic species. If you are an angler and want to fish, here are some places you can go fishing in Sa Pa:
- Seo Mi Ti Hydroelectric Reservoir
An artificial lake located in Ta Van commune, Sapa town, Lao Cai province, about 20 km from the town center. The lake was formed from the construction of a dam for the Seo Trung Ho hydroelectric project and is located in the core of Hoang Lien National Park. With an altitude of 1,600 m above sea level, this is the highest artificial lake in Vietnam.

The area around the lake has been likened to a miniature Europe in Sapa, just like a remote oasis on a steep cliff, level with the sky. To reach the lake, people will have to travel nearly 12 km of steep road. When arriving, anglers will experience fishing in one of the most beautiful lakes in the Sapa area, with native fish such as carp, grass carp, and goby, some of which weigh up to tens of kilograms.
- Ban Ho
Stream with many forests is extremely poetic
Ban Ho is famous for its beautiful villages in the mountains and forests along with its unique cuisine. Walking around Ban Ho, visitors can visit the houses of the Tay people, discover how to weave brocade, sing and dance with them. There are two streams, Muong Hoa and La Ve, intersecting, with clear, cool water, with unique fish species. Anglers can both experience visiting the village and casting their fishing rods here.
- Seo Trung Ho

Located along the Muong Hoa valley, Seo Trung Ho appears with terraced fields surrounding the village, streams flowing through the green Muong Hoa valley. Here, visitors will enjoy specialties that only locals raise and catch such as local chickens, stream fish, etc. Here, there are calm waters formed by small streams from the Hoang Lien Son range, so anglers can spend a couple of hours fishing here.
- Nam Cang
Stream fishing and homestay experience in Nam Cang
Completely different from other areas in Sa Pa, Nam Cang has a different climate because it is located deep south of the town. Famous for its majestic high mountain peaks and fertile terraced fields. Coming to Nam Kang, this is a relatively flat low valley and is also the end of the streams, so this place creates low-lying ponds with native fish species. Visitors can come here to fish and cast nets.
- Thanh Phu Bridge
Fishing combined with leisure tourism in Thanh Phu commune
Located between the Ban Ho hydroelectric basin and the Nam Cun hydroelectric dam, located below the foot of Thanh Phu bridge, creating a large dam area in the Ban Ho commune area. On the way here, you will pass through terraced fields and visit villages. When arriving at the foot of Thanh Phu bridge, anglers will experience throwing their fishing rods into an open space with poetic hills and mountains, on both sides are beautiful terraced fields.
