1. The Cultural – Culinary Festival to welcome Lunar New Year 2025 will take place in Bat Xat district from February 8 to February 9, 2025 at the Muong Hum commune sports ground. Including some of the following main activities:
Introducing local culinary culture to people and tourists
Culinary Festival of ethnic minorities in Bat Xat district: Opening at 08 am on February 9, 2025, to introduce and serve traditional dishes of ethnic groups and people in the district to all people and tourists participating in the festival.
Cultural – Sports Festival of ethnic groups in Muong Hum commune: Organizing folk cultural games, cultural exchanges with ethnic people, performing ethnic costumes, creating a joyful atmosphere and solidarity between communities.
Display and sale of OCOP products, agricultural products and local products: Taking place over two days of the festival on February 8 and 9, 2025, with the participation of 7 communes, introducing agricultural products, handicrafts and local cuisine.
Experience traditional folk games and cuisine: In addition to the main activities at the festival, visitors can participate in activities such as walking on rope bridges, jumping sacks, blindfolded duck catching, kayaking on the hydroelectric lake and enjoying folk cakes, traditional cuisine at the tray display contest, cake pounding contest taking place from 7:30 to 11:00 on February 9, 2025.
2. The Xuong Dong Festival will take place on February 4, 2025 at Quang Kim Commune Stadium. Along with many interesting activities, the festival is meant to pray for a bountiful harvest, a new year of favorable weather, good crops and a prosperous and happy life. The festival is also a place where people honor ethnic culture, express gratitude to ancestors and gods, and strengthen the solidarity of the ethnic community.
The Xuong Dong festival is held annually in Quang Kim commune, Bat Xat district.
The New Year’s worship ceremony: Performed by elders and shamans, this ceremony takes place at the stadium, where there is an altar for gods and ancestors. Offerings include sticky rice, chicken, pig, wine, Chung cake and symbolic farming tools.
Cultivation ritual performance: Reenacting the steps of tilling the soil, sowing rice, and plowing in the fields. This is a symbolic activity to start a new crop. Farming tools such as plows, harrows, buffaloes and cows are brightly decorated, creating a joyful atmosphere.
Folk cultural exchange: Folk games such as tug of war, throwing balls, blindfolded goat catching, and stick pushing. Traditional art performances such as Then singing, xoe dancing and performances by the Giay, Dao, and Ha Nhi ethnic groups.
Countryside food market, agricultural product display: Visitors can enjoy local specialties such as thang co, sausage, sticky rice cake, corn wine, and many other products. Ethnic households and cooperatives bring local specialties such as Seng Cu rice, wild vegetables, and fresh fruits to introduce and sell.
3. The Mong Ethnic Cultural Festival will be held before February 7, 2025 in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province. With the meaning of honoring the Mong ethnic culture, expressing pride in their traditional cultural identity, the Mong community together preserves and develops cultural heritage values. The festival is also the place where very special activities take place such as:

Opening ceremony: Takes place at the central stadium or the cultural area of the commune, with solemn rituals imbued with the Mong ethnic identity. Traditional songs and dances are performed by local artisans.
Crossbow shooting, pao throwing competitions and folk games: These are two typical traditional sports of the Mong people, attracting the participation of many teams from the villages. In addition, traditional folk games such as stick pushing, tug of war, spinning top, and cockfighting are also attractions of the festival
Cultural and artistic performances: Panpipe dances, folk songs, and traditional musical instrument performances such as Mong panpipes and bamboo flutes. Traditional Mong costume-making contest with colorful brocade patterns.
Displaying local products and Mong cuisine: This is an area displaying and selling typical Mong products such as brocade, silver jewelry, corn wine, sticky rice cakes, and local agricultural products.
