Lao Cai develops medicinal products associated with tourism
Lao Cai has diverse natural and climatic conditions, favorable for the development of medicinal plants. Lao Cai is planned as one of the eight key regions for medicinal plant production in Viet Nam.
Linking medicinal herbs with health tourism
In Lao Cai province, medicinal herbs are the main crop to exploit the potential comparative advantages of natural climate conditions, indigenous knowledge and tourism to increase income for local people.
To achieve the set goals, Lao Cai develops medicinal herb raw material areas; develops medicinal herb products associated with tourism; attracts strategic investors for deep processing; builds sightseeing areas, tourist attractions associated with medicinal herbs for welcoming tourists.
Lao Cai aims to develop 5 main medicinal products associated with tourism, including Red Dao medicinal bath products; beauty products, organic detergents from herbs; essential oils; herbs used in cuisine; Cordyceps mushrooms.
Ta Phin commune tourist site (Sa Pa town) builds a health care tourism center associated with herbal products and develops typical products as gifts for tourists. Ngu Chi Son and Muong Hoa commune tourist sites (Sa Pa town) build conservation areas for rare medicinal plants, developing them into tourist attractions.
Y Ty, A Lu, Trinh Tuong commune tourist sites (Bat Xat district) build the Ha Nhi Herbal Cultural Center. Nam Det and Ban Lien commune tourist sites (Bac Ha district) and Xuan Hoa commune tourist sites (Bao Yen district) develop the form of visiting cinnamon forests, medicinal herbs and experiencing cinnamon essential oil production activities.
Ta Van Chu and Lung Phinh commune tourist sites (Bac Ha district) and Lung Than and Quan Ho Than commune tourist sites (Si Ma Cai district) have developed programs for tourists to visit and experience concentrated medicinal herb growing areas.
Along with that, select typical products such as bath products, bath water, herbal pillows, health protection products, detergents (bath soap, shampoo, dishwashing liquid…), cosmetics, beauty products…
Health care tourism and agricultural and herbal experiences also contribute to diversifying products and services, bringing rich experience values to tourists while creating development opportunities for businesses and the community.
Promoting medicinal products associated with tourism
In the coming time, Lao Cai will continue to promote the image of concentrated medicinal production areas associated with eco-tourism, experiential tourism, connecting the consumption of medicinal products as gifts for tourists at tourist areas in the province.
The province will build a large-scale exhibition, introduction and trading center for medicinal herbs, organize tours for domestic and foreign visitors to experience local medicinal products.
Along with that, large-scale medicinal festivals are organized in conjunction with local festivals to communicate and promote the image of medicinal herb-growing areas and Lao Cai medicinal herbs to visitors.
Communicate and promote medicinal products associated with tourism; participate in linking the consumption of medicinal products serving tourism through wholesale and retail supply chains, supermarket systems, tourist areas and sites.
