Bac Ha Fruit and Vegetable Research and Production Station – A New Ecotourism Destination in Lao Cai
On April 14, 2025, the People’s Committee of Lao Cai Province issued Decision No. 1136/QD-UBND officially recognizing the Bac Ha Fruit and Vegetable Research and Production Station as an official tourist site. This marks an important step in the development of agricultural tourism in connection with the research and preservation of the region’s unique highland crop varieties.
The station is located in Na Kim residential group, Bac Ha Town, Bac Ha District, Lao Cai Province, about 1 km from the town center. Situated at an altitude of 960 meters above sea level, the station spans a total area of 13.25 hectares, with 7 hectares dedicated to fruit orchards. Its prime location at the foot of Co Tien Mountain and the cool climate year-round provide ideal conditions for growing temperate crops such as Tam Hoa plums, VH6 pears, and early-ripening French peaches.
Visitors to the station can enjoy a variety of activities, including:
- Admiring and photographing the blooming white plum and pear blossoms in spring;
- Picking Tam Hoa plums and VH6 pears and tasting the fresh fruits right in the orchard;
- Learning about the research, selection, and production process of specialty highland plant varieties.
Additionally, the station offers a traditional ethnic costume rental service for visitors who wish to take memorable photos, adding to the uniqueness of their trip.
The station is well-planned with a convenient internal road system, including a concrete road from the main gate to the parking area, and connecting paths between the fruit orchards, flower gardens, nurseries, and wet rice fields. This infrastructure ensures easy access for visitors to explore the entire station.

- Opening Hours: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily
- Entrance Fee: The station now charges an entrance fee for tourists (update soon).
